There were reports today that Ferdinand could yet turn down the opportunity to represent his country again, both in response to being left out by Hodgson until now or to be able to extend his club career. Ferguson, who reported no casualties carrying out a gain which stretches his team's lead at the very top of the table to 15 items, was happy with Ferdinand's share. He said: "Rio has always had the capacity to break in to midfield. He doesn't take action up to he applied to but he got us a goal and did today. "Most of that time period this year we have played well. The performance today does not reflect the 15 things ahead we're. "I thought a few of Reading's football was really good but they did not really make any chances. I expected threat from set-piece play but we did protect really well." Ferguson acknowledged the deflection which Rooney's photo got off Reading opponent Alex Pearce helped his team. He added on ESPN: "I do not know if the goalkeeper would have saved it or not but it was a poor deflection and went over his head".
