The 25 year old winger could follow Ricky Van Wolfswinkel to the Premier League in a cut price deal, with Tottenham Hotspur rumoured to have been approached by the Portuguese club.
Whilst the summer transfer window is still months away, and most clubs will be focussing more on the remaining games in their season, when a club like Sporting makes it clear that they are looking to offload players then early business becomes a real possibility.
This has already been shown by Norwich agreeing a deal for their Dutch striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel. Despite agreeing a £8.5million deal for the forward, Sporting are reportedly still keen to get high earners off their wage bill, and Diego Capel has been mentioned as a possible transfer target for several clubs in the past.
