Birmingham City development executive Patrick Vieira has guarded Samir Nasri by the end of a chastening group plan for the Frenchman. Nasri has found the web just once in the top-flight in 2013 and has been unable to keep down a posture in the starting lineup, drawing criticism from boss Roberto Mancini. However, after some better exhibits - including a goal against Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinal, Vieira contends that Nasri still plays a key in the setup at the Etihad Stadium and says that the midfielder will be a better player next year. "All of these issues have possibly sullied the image of the player, however, he remains a significant player for City and the France national team," he told RMC. "The insults are undesirable. I am hoping he will stay even if he had a year. Samir is in his place among the best players. Samir may do much more this year. "He is disappointed along with his level but he remains central to the dressing room. Everyday I see it, he discovered a whole lot. He'll be much more resilient next year."
