Stoke City: Matthew Etherington and Marc Wilson could be out for year - That is Staffordshire

STOKE pair Marc Wilson and Matthew Etherington would have played their last game of the growing season after being laid low by injury. And striker Cameron Jerome can be an early uncertainty for Saturday's clash against Norwich after hurting his foot throughout last weekend's gain at QPR. Matthew Etherington and Marc Wilson may both be out for the others of the summer season. Wilson limped off with a recurrence of hamstring trouble at QPR, while Etherington continues to be under treatment for the back problem which includes sidelined him for Stoke's last two-and-a-half games. Wilson's fitness dilemmas come after he missed four weeks with a broken leg earlier in the day in the season. And Etherington has been hit so very hard by occasional conditioning issues through the entire campaign that his best run in the side was 10 activities during November and December. Indeed, the set have just started three category activities together on the left-hand side this season... a frightening fact that explains lots of Stoke's problems. They set up together on the opening day of the summer season at Reading, then at Fulham in Wilson's comeback game in February, and again in the current property defeat by Aston Villa. But Etherington was subbed midway through the initial half at Fulham and then forced to retire at half-time against Villa. Therefore all told, the couple have really used just 149 minutes on the message together as left-back and left-winger. "Yes, they have been a neglect, there's no denying that," Pulis admitted. "I think we've especially missed Matty inside our home games due to the speed he has to grow teams. "I still maintain that there surely is few, if any, better players of his kind when he's firing and fit. That is why it is imperative we get him playing again." Jerome, meanwhile, has been forced to truly have a cortisone injection in his foot to make sure his season doesn't end prematurely with four fixtures still outstanding. The 26-year-old striker, who has started five of Stoke's last eight games, performed his part in Saturday's 2-0 gain at QPR after Pulis re-introduced his speed into the team to trouble the key defensive coupling of Clint Hill and Christopher Samba. Norwich, whose conquer Reading last week-end was only their second in 17 group games, could have England owner John Ruddy in purpose once they look at the Britannia on Saturday. Ruddy, back reserve-team action after five months out subsequent leg surgery, is pressuring Mark Bunn for his old first-team slot. STOKE first-team coach Mark O'Connor completed the London Marathon in only under four hours on Sunday. He is trying to improve A10,000 for the Donna Louise Kids' Hospice.
