Bolton were the better side for 90 minutes, but a very late target from Carlos Edwards gave Ipswich Town a vital 3 points. Bolton were on a good work of type coming into this match, and it is easy to observe how after winning five on the trot a director wouldn't want to make many changes. Dougie Freedman made just one single modification to the beginning XI, turning Davies, Kevin out and Davies, Craig in. Adam Bogdan, who has been out the past a couple of weeks with damage, returned to the sub's counter. Andrew Lonergan started again. I'd perhaps not read a lot of into this. Doesn't mean Bogdan is 100% match simply because he is on the counter. Both sides looked good on the counter attack in the early portions of the match. Ipswich really had the greater possibilities, getting one header in to the side of the internet and requiring a save yourself from Lonergan on still another header. Bolton didn't worry although. They held agency defensively, and managed to look dangerous when approaching. By the 20 second mark, Wanderers were actually trimming control, and frantically trying to find an accurate final ball. Unfortuitously for the Whites, it was it was found by Ipswich who first. Daryl Murphy was unmarked at the post, but he made a complete hash of it, and Bolton were let off the hook. In fact, as the half hour mark came and went, many would have decided that Ipswich were looking the better side. Town finally won their first place end at the 38th minute, and Bolton were seeking to be in great danger. Mark Ngog was able to clear the danger and made his way back. The game got really scrappy as their efforts were upped by both sides to score before the break. Neither succeeded. A half which could generously be called "unglamorous" concluded 0-0. Dougie should have got in his players' ears at the break, because they arrived very aggressively in the next half. Alas, this was nearly terrible thanks to a Zat Knight mistake in the 50th minute. Luckily for him, Murphy rushed the chance all over again. Apart from that, Bolton really began to retain possession in the second half. Kevin Davies came on for Craig Davies a few minutes later. Not just a major tactical change, but at least Dougie was trying. Davies did manage to discover Ngog in the box, but his header was only large. Ipswich looked very unlikely to report at this time. Many Bolton followers wanted Stu Holden in the future on, but Dougie was not involved. At the stroke of 90 minutes, when everybody had resigned themselves to a, the ball dropped to Carlos Edwards in the Bolton penalty box. He got two bites at the apple, and was able to put the 2nd one in the back of the net. Ipswich Town, themselves preventing relegation, is likely to be excited to have acquired a vital three items in such a dramatic style. When we are honest, this isn't an enormous blow to Bolton. Five points out of the playoffs with ten matches to go is obviously workable, and the team were never going to get 15 in a line. The point was wanted by freedman though. He shot to popularity key defense Craig Dawson for striker Marvin Sordell and told his side to go for it. The sole result of which was Daryl Murphy planning 1-on-1 with the owner. Andrew Lonergan was around it, and a good save your self held the scoreline at 1-0. That was all she wrote.
